Boards & Commissions

Committees, boards and commissions provide a valuable service by assisting and enabling the Council to direct City business.  Committees (to include boards and commissions) are created by ordinance or by resolution for a specific purpose.  The terms of service expire when the purpose is completed or at the end of one year unless specifically stated otherwise in the ordinance or resolution.  All committees have advisory functions only unless established by ordinance, and may not act individually or collectively as an agent of the City.

If you are a City of Houston resident and would like to volunteer for a committee position, please submit a completed application to City Hall, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or  contact City Hall at 892-6869 for additional information and assistance.
